Hugely enjoyable update of Jules Verne's classic adventure story of a haphazard expedition to a subterranean world. The always-affable Brendan Fraser plays the American college professor who accidentally discovers a portal to another world populated by flying piranhas and a pumped-up T-Rex. A slick narrative well served by stunning SFX (it was originally released in 3D) ensures a dream family movie.
