Pineapple Express
The latest entry into Judd Apatow's 'new comedy crowd' canon features Seth Rogen as Dale Denton, a pothead who witnesses a brutal murder. When the cops track down the strain of weed he smokes, Dale and his hapless skunk dealer Saul (James Franco) make for the hills as the gangsters chase them down. With a hundred affectionate nods to films of the 80s, Pineapple Express has enough wit and charm to raise it above the mediocrity of fellow stoner comedies, Harold & Kumar or Dude, Where's My Car.
